Implementation
The STEPS programme has been uniquely design to accredit the process of learning rather than the content of the course.
Clients recieve the Level 1 STEP UP Award by evidencing how they have set themselves learning goals and evaluated the success of activities. This allows the programme to be individually crafted for each organisation yet remain nationally accredited, however high the turnover of clients.
Organisations can select:
- What they want their clients to learn
- How the materials look: amending them to include their own support planning paperwork and branding
- The programme name
- How the scheme will be delivered: managers and staff can decide whether to make parts of the programme mandatory and the style they want materials to be delivered
- The relevance of the materials: Many of the worksheets and templates can be amended to include materials from local housing market schemes, local council policies, in addition to more popular tenancy training materials i.e budgeting worksheets created by your own schemes
To see how the programme could work for you look at the following three different examples.
The programme can also uniquely be used to accredit other activities or tenancy training schemes already in place
Eventually you realise everything you do is a STEPS Action, having new tools to talk about issues is helpful
